Clerkenwell Design Week 2023 was the most impressive design show of the year so far. Hundreds of showrooms, thousands of products and even more people participated in the design-led takeover of East Central London from 23 - 25 May, and The Splash Lab was thrilled to experience it all. Our showroom stood alongside some of the most recognised international brands as we held workshops, product demos, and even a wine and cheese party for all to enjoy. CDW 2023 came and went in a hurry, and now's the time to look back and take everything in. The Splash Lab Showroom
We held a lot of exciting events at The Splash Lab showroom over the course of Clerkenwell Design Week 2023. Every day was more engaging than the last as more and more visitors came to experience our newest products, take part in workshops and even just chat with us in person. It's hard to believe so much happened in such a short amount of time, and with so many exciting events to choose from, picking our favorite was quite a challenge. That being said, our Wednesday night party was a truly special occasion.
The Splash Lab extended an open invitation to everyone at Clerkenwell Design Week for a relaxing evening of drinks, snacks, live music and good company at our showroom in East Central London. This informal event was our opportunity to meet many designers, architects and thought leaders in person to talk about everything from our newest products -- to the shifting landscape of today's design world. Friendly introductions turned into deep conversations, good laughs and new connections we are keen to strengthen. In all, Cheese and Wine at TSL was a collection of moments we'll remember long after CDW 2023 has passed us by.
Installations
Hana Form's flower sculpture installation was the first thing that caught our attention on the very first day of CDW 2023 - located from Cowcross Tunnel to Cowcross Yards. This vibrant installation featured an array of larger-than-life flowers carefully crafted by artisans from handmade paper and recycled organza. From delicate buds to giant petals, this installation was inspired by Hana Form's commitment to conservation and responsible production methods. Each piece here celebrates the beauty of nature and creativity and the lasting impact both will have on our future.
We were also quite taken with another installation at Cowcross Yards - Next Generation Design 2023. Supported by Scale Rule and returning for its fourth consecutive year, this project showcases the creativity and talent of aspiring young Londoners bound to become the next generation of architects, designers and engineers. The purpose of CDW's mainstay installation is to give students, young professionals and other community members the ability to impact their built environment.
This year's sculpture was designed by young engineers and architects using a standardised kit of parts they designed and created. At the end of CDW 2023, the installation will be deconstructed and the parts preserved for future use by an entirely different team in an entirely new way.
